A single-bulb ceiling pendant built around a wide hemispherical dome moulded in translucent amber acrylic. The acrylic is coloured rather than clear, so the bulb reads as a soft glow through the shade and the light that reaches the room below carries the same warm amber cast. A turned wooden finial in a walnut finish caps the top of the dome, and a matching round wood plate covers the ceiling fixing.
Design and materials
The shade is acrylic, which keeps a 35cm dome light enough to hang on a slim flex. The dome has a plain open rim at the bottom, so light from the bulb travels straight down as well as through the shade. The walnut finial and the wood ceiling plate are the only other visible parts of the fitting, with a thin black cord running between them.
Light and bulb
The pendant takes one E27 screw-fit bulb, which is not supplied. Because the bulb is your own choice, you can set the character of the light: a warm white bulb leans into the amber of the shade, while a cold white or natural light bulb reads cooler through it. The fitting is rated for AC 110-240V.
Installation
The cord measures 150cm and is adjustable, so the hanging height can be set to suit the ceiling and the surface underneath. The dome is 35cm in diameter and 23.5cm high.
