A wall light made as a single plain disc of natural yellow travertine, 25 cm across, mounted so that it stands proud of the wall on a concealed central fixing. There is no bracket, lens, hole or ornament on the face: the stone is left as an unbroken circle. The LED sits behind the disc and throws its light onto the wall all around the rim, so the fitting reads as a halo rather than as a lamp you look at.
Design and materials
The disc is cut from natural yellow travertine and keeps the open pores, small craters and fine banding the stone is known for, so the figure runs differently through every piece. Nothing is applied to the front face. The narrow shadow gap behind the disc is what lets the light escape.
