A shallow ceiling light built around a disc of natural yellow travertine. A small walnut canopy sits flush to the ceiling above the centre of the disc, and an opal diffuser drops through the middle of the underside, so the light source is hidden and what reaches the room is diffused rather than direct. The stone is left with its natural pitting and banding on show.
Design and materials
Three materials make up the fitting: yellow travertine for the disc, wood in a walnut finish for the canopy, and acrylic for the opal diffuser. Travertine is a natural stone, so the open pores and fine horizontal bands across the disc vary from piece to piece rather than repeating a printed pattern.
